About Bibliofiene - Your Independent Online Bookstore

Bibliofiene was born from a love of books, a little caffeine, and one very happy spelling mistake.

The name first appeared in a novel being written by Bibliofiene’s owner. In that story, one of the main characters has a sister who owns a bookstore, and the owner wanted a name that captured the cosy, book-loving atmosphere of this fictional shop. The name Bibliofiene—a playful combination of bibliophile and caffeine—was born. There was only one small problem: “caffeine” was spelled incorrectly. Rather than change it, she decided to keep it. Years later, that fictional bookstore made its way out of the pages of a novel and into the real world. And so, Bibliofiene became a reality.

Based in Drogheda, County Louth, Ireland, Bibliofiene is an independently owned online bookstore, dedicated to showcasing a wide range of books including those by independent authors. While the shop began online out of practical and economic necessity, there is a dream of one day bringing Bibliofiene to life as a physical bookshop—a cosy place where readers can browse a diverse book collection, discover something unexpected, and perhaps settle into a comfy chair with a cuppa.

For now, though, Bibliofiene lives online, run entirely by its owner: one person behind the desk, packing orders, choosing books, answering questions, and happily getting lost among the shelves filled with reading accessories. More than just a bookshop!

Books have always been more than objects to Bibliofiene's owner. They have been an escape when life felt overwhelming. A way to quiet a busy mind. A place to rest, recharge, and find a different perspective when the real world became a little too much. Because sometimes, you really do need to escape. A book can take you across the world without leaving your chair. It can transport you through centuries, introduce you to people you'll never meet, or let you experience an entirely different world from the comfort and safety of your own reading space.

But books don't mean the same thing to everyone—and that's part of their magic. A book can be entertainment, education, companionship, comfort, adventure, an escape, or a doorway into a completely new way of seeing the world. It can make you laugh, make you cry, make you think, or simply give your brain somewhere peaceful to rest for a while.
